Hot springs are part of nature and belong to everyone. In Japan, you can access most of them and the fee for that is usually very reasonable. The purpose of this resource is to spark your curiosity to learn more and experience the world of onsens. All information provided here is free and I am happy to give more tips and advice to anyone who is interested in onsenpunk.

For those who are hesitant to (pun intended) dive in this topic by themselves I am offering my services as a guide in the world of hot springs. A lot of hot springs are situated in the remote locations where it could be difficult to navigate your way if you are visiting the country for the first time. Sometimes, first time visitors to onsens are not sure of the rules and etiquette and how to communicate with the locals. Many people want to find out more, but find it hard due to the language barrier.

I am deliberately targeting the areas in Japan that are underserved by visitors. Even if you want to visit the popular areas like Hakone or Kusatsu, I will show you the places that are not on the most of the itineraries, but are equally interesting. I connect with local communities to show my respect and appreciation of their efforts and to learn how to contribute in the best way.

Even if you are coming to Japan for the first time, you can learn more about the country and its culture if you go on a week-long trips to hot springs than if you do the usual Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka route of the typical places to see. If you only have 2-3 days, you can still find peace and calm in the world of onsens. If you have a month, you can go on an adventure that will change your life forever.

I have organized multiple day hot spring trips of up to 30 people. Depending on your needs I can find you a hotel with the mineral bath right in the room or an AirBnB house with onsen. Many facilities offer private baths (kashikiri,貸切) and almost all provide all the necessary amenities, are very clean and easy to use.

I can speak English, Japanese and Russian. Contact me via dimitry at(@) onsenpunk.com
